Our experience shows that many people who are somewhat ignorant about self-tanning sometimes find it a bit scary to try. 'But soon I will turn orange', 'or I will soon have spots or stripes'. This fear is logical, but completely unjust if you use the right products at the right time
way used. With these handy tips and tricks you will have a beautiful even, brown complexion in no time.
Preparation
Just like when using a tanning bed, there are a number of steps that you should follow for optimal tanning results. First of all, of course, by using a good sunbed cream (just like a good self-tan product). But the preparation and aftercare are actually just as important. Such as scrubbing and moisturizing 24 hours in advance using an after-care product. By exfoliating beforehand you remove dead skin cells. This ensures softer skin where it is
product can work on better. After applying the product, always wait until the product has completely dried to avoid stains. You could also use a hairdryer to help the self-tan dry faster.
There are naturally drier spots on the body. This includes elbows, knuckles and knees. It is useful to additionally lubricate these spots with, for example, Vaseline or a slightly greasy body lotion so that these spots do not turn extra dark, but color nicely with the rest of the body. Please note that the body lotion should not contain perfume, as this can stain under the sunbed. In any case, it is advisable to continue using moisturizing products. These maintain the moisture level in your skin, so that the tan remains beautiful for longer.
Desired color and result
To maintain your complexion, we recommend using it again after 4-5 days. Doesn't your complexion fade naturally? Then you can choose to first scrub the product off and then use it again. Once your complexion has faded evenly, you can reapply the product without scrubbing. If your complexion is to your liking, try not to scrub in between because this will remove the top layer of dead skin cells and that is exactly the layer in which the color is located.
Spray
When you use a spray, it is important that you do not use it too close to the skin to avoid stains. Hold the spray approximately 30cm away from the desired place where you want to use this product. Press and hold the spray and move it over the desired surface. Because the spray atomizes the product, this will provide a beautiful natural result. It is very important that you do not apply the product too quickly so that you forget spots, but also not too slowly so that some spots are darker than others. You will have to find some skill in this yourself and as we always say: Practice makes perfect!
Mousse
We always recommend using a mousse product in combination with a self tan glove. This ensures that your hands remain clean and the product is applied as evenly as possible with as little chance of stains/streaks as possible. Rub the product into the skin with smooth movements. If you prefer to use the product with your hands, do not forget to scrub your hands thoroughly afterwards to prevent brown palms.
