Burned skin, what now?

If you go into the sun unprotected or if you do not apply protection often enough, your skin may burn. This can be very painful and can also be harmful to the skin. It is therefore best to prevent sunburn . You can do this by using sunscreen and not staying in the sun for too long. But what if you do get sunburned? What is the best way to care for sunburned skin? We will tell you more about this!

Caring for burned skin

You can care for sunburned skin by cooling it for some time. You can do this with, for example, wet cloths or stand under a lukewarm shower for a while. Make sure that the water you use for cooling is not too cold. This causes too large a temperature difference. Are you sunburned? Then recover by not touching any blisters and giving your skin time to recover.

Recovery of burned skin

Recovery from a sunburn takes time, although there are things you can do to promote recovery. Try to drink water regularly after a burn, as your skin may be dehydrated due to the bandage . You can also care for the burned skin with a greasy cream. It is important that the cream is moisturizing and soothing. The effect is even better if it contains aloe vera, as it also has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Seek out shade

Are you sunburned? The fastest way to recover is to stay out of the sun for the time being. It is always advised to avoid the sun for at least three days after a burn. Are you on vacation? Then try to find the shade as much as possible and, if necessary, use a scarf that you can put over your shoulders. This way you can quickly get rid of burned skin. In most cases it takes about three to five days for the burned skin to fully recover.
